Public health congresses focus on mental health and prevention in Uruguay and Paraguay
Health professionals and educators are gathering for specialized congresses in Uruguay and Paraguay aimed at improving preventive care and public health leadership.
In Minas, Uruguay, the ECHO program will host a hybrid workshop titled “A challenge for mental health today: how to arrive in time?” at the Universidad Tecnológica del Uruguay (UTEC) on October 26. Organized by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of the Republic (Udelar) and the Congress of Intendants, the event seeks to provide practical tools for the detection and prevention of mental health issues. The workshop is designed for health professionals, teachers, and the general public to help recognize warning signs in friends or family members.
In Paraguay, the National University of Itapúa (UNI) has launched the III Congress of Public Health and Leadership. Under the theme “Understand, prevent, and transform,” the event includes sessions on adolescent reproductive health, specifically focusing on the prevention of sexually transmitted infections and teenage pregnancy. The congress features international experts, including Dr. Lenildo de Moura from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), who is addressing international cooperation to strengthen public health in the region.
