Coahuila and Argentina implement diverse mental health initiatives

Various regional governments and legislative bodies are launching initiatives to strengthen mental health support. In Coahuila, Mexico, Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas has implemented a state-wide program with unprecedented investment, aiming to reach over 500,000 families across 38 municipalities through the State Mental Health Council and specialized professional encounters.

In Argentina, legislative and community efforts are also expanding. In Buenos Aires province, Senator Pablo Petrecca has proposed a provincial regime to protect the mental health of police officers, ensuring that seeking psychological assistance does not negatively impact their careers. Meanwhile, in Jujuy, the Provincial Council for Children and Adolescents is advancing public policies focused on mental health, substance abuse, and digital safety. Other local actions include suicide prevention workshops in schools in Concepción del Uruguay and youth empowerment programs like Ree Sí! in various Jujuy cities.

Additionally, in La Pampa, authorities are debating regulations to restrict the sale of vapes and energy drinks to minors to prevent rising consumption among adolescents. In Querétaro, Mexico, local deputies are seeking to update state mental health laws to address service saturation in public institutions.
