Public infrastructure investments drive coastal recovery in Dominican Republic and Chile
In the Dominican Republic, Tourism Minister David Collado announced that the Ministry of Tourism has invested approximately RD$3,500 million in public works. These projects focus on the recovery of boardwalks, beaches, boulevards, and other public spaces to provide recreational areas for communities. Key interventions include improvements in Santo Domingo Este, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Samaná, Cabrera, Haina, and various coastal points in Barahona and Guayacanes.
In Chile, the Ministry of Public Works has completed the second stage of the architectural and pedestrian recovery project at Chinchorro Beach in Arica. With an investment exceeding $4 billion pesos, the project rehabilitated approximately 1.3 kilometers of coastline. The works included repairing containment walls, pedestrian walkways, and parking areas, as well as installing new lighting, children's playgrounds, bicycle parking, and emergency vehicle access to combat deterioration caused by salinity and humidity.
