Public libraries in Angers and La Tuque undergo major renovations

Major renovation projects are underway for public libraries in Angers, France, and La Tuque, Canada.

In Angers, the Toussaint media library is undergoing an extensive expansion and renovation costing 15.5 million euros. The project includes a 1,600 m² extension that will increase the total area from 6,000 to 8,000 m². New features will include a toy library, an animation room, a workspace, and a treasure gallery for heritage collections. The facility will also receive improved thermal glazing and a second entrance connected to the Fine Arts Museum garden. Construction is expected to finish in late 2027, with a public reopening scheduled for spring 2028.

In La Tuque, the Annie Saint-Arneault municipal library will undergo significant upgrades to its plumbing, electricity, and exterior envelope. The project is valued at 2.6 million euros, with the Quebec government providing 1.6 million euros in funding. The library will require a temporary relocation starting this autumn and will close for several weeks during the move. The municipality has expressed interest in additional financial support from the federal government.
