Expansion and renovation of public library services

Overview

Various regional library and media center projects are being developed or renovated across France and Canada.

In France, several initiatives are underway. In Laval, the Médiabus mobile library service is scheduled to resume operations in late 2026, visiting 15 neighborhoods. Thouars is preparing to open a new €9.7 million media center on September 1, 2026, designed to serve as a central hub for the intercommunal reading network. Additionally, the Toussaint media library in Angers is undergoing a €15.5 million expansion to increase its size from 6,000 to 8,000 m², with a projected reopening in spring 2028. Meanwhile, the Argentine media library in Beauvais is being restructured to increase its public area.

In Canada, the Annie Saint-Arneault municipal library in La Tuque is undergoing a €2.6 million upgrade to its plumbing, electricity, and exterior envelope. This project, supported by €1.6 million in Quebec government funding, will require the library to temporarily relocate starting this autumn.
