Public officials in Peru and Ecuador undergo anti-corruption measures

In Peru, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) has trained over 1,600 public officials to identify and prevent corruption risks. The initiative, titled “Diálogos Transparentes: Integridad frente al FEN 2026,” aims to ensure transparency and prevent irregularities during emergency responses to the upcoming El Niño phenomenon. The training focused on bribery prevention, due diligence, and the responsible use of whistleblower channels.

In Ecuador, National Assembly President Mishel Mancheno stated that she does not believe a formal oversight process is necessary regarding the suppression of Specialized Anti-Corruption Units. Following a decision by the Council of the Judiciary to redistribute the competencies of these units in Quito, Mancheno suggested that requesting information is a more appropriate step than a formal investigation. She also noted that future legislative reforms, including the Anti-Mafia Law, may need to be adjusted to ensure functionality following these judicial changes.
