Public service disruptions reported in Colombia and Ecuador

In Colombia, the Registraduría Nacional del Estado Civil has deployed mobile units, alternative sites, and services in shelters to provide free identification documents following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake. The earthquake affected the Eje Cafetero, Chocó, and Valle del Cauca regions. In Pereira, mobile units are operating at the Gaitán Hospital sector and the Transport Terminal to compensate for damage to the local headquarters. As of August 18, Pereira has processed 1,200 identity cards and 25 civil registries, while Caldas and Risaralda combined have seen 1,493 procedures.

In Ecuador, vehicle registration processes in Quito are facing temporary disruptions due to technical issues with the National Transit Agency (ANT) central platform. The Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT) reported that the Integrated Transit Unified System (SUIT) is experiencing intermittency, affecting the regular flow of registration procedures. Authorities have advised citizens to monitor official channels for updates on the technical resolution.
