Public transport updates and new Metrobus projects in Coimbra region

New public transport schedules have been implemented in Góis and the Coimbra Metropolitan Region as of September 4. These changes affect connections between Góis and Coimbra, as well as the link between the municipality and Serpins in Lousã, facilitating integration with the Metrobus system. The Metrobus service between Lousã and Serpins was recently resumed.

In Figueira da Foz, Mayor Pedro Santana Lopes has announced plans to connect the city to Coimbra via a Metrobus system (dedicated lane bus service). Following a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, the project is being prioritized over railway electrification and track duplication, as the Metrobus option is estimated to cost only 20% of the railway investment and can be executed much faster.

Additionally, the Figueira da Foz municipality is working to acquire former CP railway workshop buildings to create an intermodal transport hub combining rail and road services with commercial spaces.
