Mexican states ramp up law‑enforcement actions with dozens of arrests and court rulings

In Veracruz, the state prosecutor reported 38 judicial resolutions in a 24‑hour period, including four convictions, one sentencing, and 33 process filings for crimes such as kidnapping, homicide and aggravated pederasty. The actions involved the Specialized Unit against Kidnapping and Extortion and the Coordinating Prosecutor’s Office for Violence against Women.

In Puebla, the Secretariat of Public Security began a depuration process for municipal police forces in six municipalities after the detention of senior officers accused of covering up narco‑laboratories. Interviews and capability evaluations are being conducted for directors, chiefs and shift leaders, with an annual target of reviewing around 1,500 personnel.

The Puebla Attorney General’s Office also opened six investigations into individuals detained for alleged health‑related drug offenses, seizing substances resembling crystal meth in the municipalities of Tehuacán, Atempan and others.

Meanwhile, in La Piedad, Michoacán, a joint operation resulted in the capture of ten people—eight men and two women—linked to an armed group. Authorities seized eight long‑guns, numerous magazines, more than 270 cartridges, grenades, hand‑made explosives, bags of marijuana, 42 doses of methamphetamine, tactical equipment and firearms used by the armed forces, and placed the suspects under preventive detention.
