San Nicolás‑Amecameca Road Completed, Enhancing Mobility for 409,000 Residents

The state government of Puebla announced the completion of the 12.8‑kilometre San Nicolás‑Amecameca road, a project that modernises the route between Puebla and the State of Mexico. The work involved resurfacing 76,800 square metres, laying 3,840 cubic metres of pavement, installing 29 drainage structures, 19 km of culverts, 44 wash‑stations, and a 70‑metre retaining wall.

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier highlighted that the new road will directly benefit 409,460 inhabitants across nine municipalities, improving travel safety and supporting regional tourism. A new Strategic Center for Security and Tourism (CESAT) was also inaugurated, featuring civil‑protection, forest‑guard, police and forest‑guard modules to enhance visitor safety in the volcanic zone.

The project is part of a broader strategy to strengthen connectivity, security and economic development in the area surrounding the volcano, aligning with the state’s infrastructure agenda.
