Puebla deputy proposes criminalizing stalking

Deputy Guadalupe Yamak Taja has presented an initiative to amend the State Penal Code in Puebla to criminalize stalking. The proposal defines stalking as performing acts of surveillance, following, monitoring, or insistent contact on two or more occasions within a six-month period without the victim's consent. Such actions must alter the victim's lifestyle or create a well-founded fear of harm to their physical or psychological integrity, liberty, or security, as well as that of their family members.

The initiative specifies that the crime can be committed through physical means as well as electronic, digital, telephonic, telematic, or any other information technology.

Additionally, Yamak Taja highlighted the approval of an initiative to amend the Law for the Protection of the Elderly in Puebla. This amendment aims to guarantee preferential service for older adults at service windows and modules within state public administration entities and municipal governments, including priority waiting spaces and efforts to complete administrative procedures in a single visit.
