Puebla flags delegations for 2026 national sports competitions
Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has officially flagged the state delegations from Puebla set to compete in the 2026 National Popular Games in Veracruz and the 2026 CONADE National Paralympics in Jalisco. The athletes will represent the state across five Paralympic disciplines and four popular sports modalities.
To support these competitors, the administration has implemented new financial incentives. Each state representative attending national competitions will receive 10,000 pesos to help cover expenses. Additionally, performance-based rewards for CONADE official competitions have been increased: 10,000 pesos for bronze, 25,000 pesos for silver, and 50,000 pesos for gold. These incentives apply to athletes, team members, and coaches.
The governor highlighted ongoing efforts to establish Puebla as a sports hub, noting that the University of Sport currently supports 539 student-athletes. Future projects include a covered Olympic pool and the development of a ‘City of Sports’ between 2027 and 2028, which will include a dedicated space to honor distinguished athletes.
