Puebla government details anti-corruption measures and budget savings

José Luis García Parra, the Cabinet Coordinator for the State of Puebla, has detailed several measures taken by the administration to combat corruption and optimize the use of public resources. He highlighted six specific cases involving the Museo Internacional del Barroco (MIB), Audi installation platforms in San José Chiapa, the Centro Integral de Servicios (CIS), water concessions, concessionary highways, and the RUTA urban transport system.

Regarding the MIB, García Parra stated that the previous financial scheme would have imposed a burden exceeding 14 billion pesos on state finances, despite the actual construction cost being 1.7 billion pesos. By executing an early termination of the contract, which required a 2 billion peso payment, the government aims to avoid more than 10.2 billion pesos in payments scheduled through 2039. This move is projected to result in significant savings across current and future administrations.

García Parra criticized previous governments led by the PAN, alleging they engaged in budget looting, and asserted that these recovered funds will be redirected toward priority sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure.
