Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier expands road rehab, flood safeguards and school rebuilding in Puebla

Puebla Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier announced a state‑wide overhaul of the road network, pledging to repave 53,000 streets in the capital and all state highways by the end of his term. The programme has already rehabilitated 33 road segments, equivalent to about 5,000 streets, using 100 % state funding and a new model that avoids debt. For 2026, the government will spend MXN 1.25 billion on 100 additional routes—about 28,000 streets or 420 km—by purchasing 17 machinery modules and receiving 36,000 tons of AC‑20 asphalt from Pemex.

The administration also created a multidisciplinary task‑force to curb flooding of the Alseseca River, proposing canal cleaning, new retaining walls and permanent monitoring with experts from BUAP, Conagua and other agencies.

In the flood‑hit microrregion of Pantepec and Xicotepec, Armenta delivered MXN 66 million in agricultural aid, tractors, drones and community‑works equipment, and oversaw the reconstruction of three schools that served as emergency shelters during the 2025 rains. The rebuilt facilities include new roofs, civic plazas and sports courts, restoring safe learning environments for thousands of children.
