Puebla inaugurates mobile hospital to provide free medical services

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has inaugurated the ‘Hospital Itinerante 5 de Mayo’ in Puebla to provide free, comprehensive medical services to remote communities. The mobile unit is designed to complement existing services from institutions such as IMSS, IMSS-Bienestar, ISSSTEP, and ISSSTE.

The hospital will perform various procedures, including cataract and pterygium surgeries, hernia and lipoma removals, vasectomies, and tubal ligations. This initiative aims to bring healthcare to isolated areas and reduce congestion in medical facilities within the Puebla capital and its metropolitan area.

Additionally, the program includes a collaborative component with the Universidad de la Salud (USEP), allowing students to gain practical experience alongside medical professionals. Due to the project's scope, the state government has announced plans to budget for a second mobile hospital next year.
