Puebla hosts 50th anniversary of ENARM medical residency exam
Puebla is serving as a major host for the 50th anniversary of the National Exam for Aspirants to Medical Residencies (ENARM). The evaluation is scheduled to take place from September 28 to 30 at the Centro Expositor in the Los Fuertes area.
This year, the exam offers 19,000 residency positions across various specialties, including internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, surgery, family medicine, emergency medicine, and public health. Additionally, the exam has expanded to include 1,800 spots for dentistry (Estomatología). Nationally, approximately 57,712 applicants are expected to participate, with about 8,348 of those located in Puebla.
Health Secretary David Kershenobich noted that the exam is evolving, with up to one-third of the questions now focusing on disease prevention. This expansion in residency slots represents a significant increase from 2019, when only 9,864 positions were available. The initiative aims to strengthen the national health system by increasing the number of medical specialists available to the population.
