Puebla rains cause road damage in 10 municipalities

Heavy rainfall has caused 18 instances of road damage across 10 municipalities in the Sierra Norte region of Puebla. According to State Secretary of Government Samuel Aguilar Pala, the damage includes two asphalt road collapses, two sections requiring reconstruction, three sections with provisional crossings, seven sections that have been cleared, and four sections that remain closed.

The affected municipalities include Huitzilan, Hermenegildo Galeana, San Felipe Tepatlán, Tepango de Rodríguez, Ahuacatlán, Camocuautla, Tepetzintla, Zapotitlán de Méndez, Tlatlauquitepec, and Amixtlán.

Amixtlán has been identified as the most severely impacted area. In addition to road issues, eight homes were damaged, prompting officials to propose the relocation of the affected families to safer ground. Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier has visited the region to inspect the damage and oversee machinery interventions. Emergency shelters remain active in the area, and support is being provided by the Federal Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport, state infrastructure teams, the Defense Forces, and the National Guard.
