Puebla Security Operations Lead to Detentions of Violence Suspects
On July 3, Mexican officials noted that the United States detained major drug trafficker Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, and politician Rubén Rocha Moya denied any involvement in the killing of Héctor Melesio Cuén. The arrests were highlighted amid ongoing concerns about insecurity in the state of Puebla.
In Puebla, the state Secretary of Public Security arrested 18‑year‑old Orlando Alexis N. near Mercado Morelos during the “Puebla Segura” operation, seizing 75 doses of drugs—including crystal, a heroin‑like substance and marijuana—and nine 9 mm cartridges. Authorities said the suspect is linked to a criminal group operating in several Mexican states.
