Puebla starts rehabilitation of Ignacio Zaragoza Street, aiding 51,000 residents

Four days after work began, the rehabilitation of Ignacio Zaragoza Street in the Camino Real area of Puebla has reached 15% completion, covering 0.85 kilometres that will benefit more than 51,000 people across seven neighborhoods.

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier said the project is part of a state program to restore urban roads, aiming to intervene on 13,000 streets in the capital and 15,000 kilometres of highways statewide this year. The effort is coordinated with the federal government led by President Claudia Sheinbaum and receives asphalt‑mix supplies from Petróleos Mexicanos. Secretary of Infrastructure José Manuel Contreras detailed the works, which include milling 6,350 m² of surface, laying 401 m³ of mix, and adding new vertical and horizontal signage.

Local officials noted the improvements will make travel safer and more efficient, enhance access to schools and workplaces, and strengthen cooperation between citizens and authorities.
