Puebla's historic center used for AI-supported urban analysis

The Centro Historico de Puebla, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, is being utilized as a test field for AI-supported urban analysis. The city's baroque heritage, characterized by a colonial street grid and a dense interconnection of palaces, churches, and residential buildings, provides a complex dataset for digital documentation.

The urban landscape is defined by the interplay between regular street patterns and highly detailed architectural elements. Key features include massive sacred buildings, such as the 16th and 17th-century cathedral, and the widespread use of Talavera tiles on facades and domes. These glazed ceramic surfaces and the geometric complexity of the city's layout offer a unique opportunity for technical approaches to digitally understand and preserve the historical ensemble.
