Puebla state infrastructure and community investment
Overview
The government of Puebla has implemented various infrastructure and community development initiatives across different regions of the state.
In the capital, the Secretariat of Welfare launched the Community Works Program, allocating 12.45 million pesos to 14 neighborhoods for sidewalk repairs, public lighting modernization, and facade painting. Additionally, 2.8 million pesos were directed toward rehabilitating nine historic buildings and facades on Calle 6 Norte under the supervision of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Building on these preservation efforts, the Puebla City Government, through the Management of the Historic Center and Cultural Heritage, completed the restoration of 19 historical buildings in the city center. Coordinated with INAH, the project covered more than 12,000 square meters of heritage sites, including 16 civil architecture buildings on 8 Oriente Avenue dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries, as well as three religious sites: the Santa Teresa de Ávila Conventual Temple, the Nuestra Señora de los Gozos Chapel, and the Temple of the Virgin of the Remedies.
The total investment for this phase exceeded 2.4 million pesos, with 950,000 pesos dedicated to facades and 1.5 million pesos allocated to religious buildings. Works included repainting, cleaning architectural details, and removing parasitic vegetation to preserve historical integrity.
In the Mixteca region, specifically near Izúcar de Matamoros, the “Por Amor a Puebla” program allocated over 10.4 million pesos for 32 projects, including school infrastructure, pedestrian bridges, and transport stops. The state also invested 43.22 million pesos to rehabilitate 14.4 kilometers of the Izúcar-Los Limones highway. To support the agricultural sector, more than 2.1 million pesos were provided for machinery and strategic inputs.
