Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Walpurgisnacht Rising to debut in Mexican cinemas Oct 1

The latest film in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica franchise, Walpurgisnacht Rising, will open in Mexico and other Latin‑American markets on 1 October 2026. The release is being handled by the Mexican distributor Konnichiwa! in partnership with Aniplex of America. The film follows the series’ earlier movies, which will be re‑screened in August and September as a lead‑up to the new entry.

Walpurgisnacht Rising brings together the core Magica Quartet staff: chief director Akiyuki Shimbo, writer Gen Urobuchi (Nitroplus), character designer Ume Aoki, and animation studio SHAFT, with additional direction and sound work by Junichirō Taniguchi, Hiroki Yamamura, and Yōta Tsuruoka. Voice actors from the original Japanese cast will reprise their roles, joined by several newcomers. The Japanese theatrical premiere is scheduled later, on 28 October.

The rollout marks the first theatrical appearance of the series in Mexico since its debut 13 years ago, underscoring the growing popularity of the franchise across Latin America.
