Puerto Rico water main break disrupts service for over 110,000 customers

The Puerto Rico Authority of Aqueducts and Sewers (AAA) announced that a 72‑inch pipe in the Superaqueduct near Toa Alta has ruptured, prompting emergency repairs. The break threatens water service for an estimated 110,000 to 112,000 customers across sectors of Bayamón, Guaynabo, northern San Juan, Isla Verde in Carolina, Piñones in Loíza, and parts of Caguas, Gurabo and Juncos. AAA officials are excavating to assess the fault and are urging residents to conserve water while alternative systems are activated.

Mayor Miguel Romero Lugo highlighted that a swift repair could restore higher flow to the Toa Baja tank, allowing adjustments to increase water delivery to San Juan without affecting other areas. The authority and municipal crews are coordinating to minimize service interruption and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
