Puerto Varas to host Biotech Week 2026
The third edition of Biotech Week 2026 is scheduled to take place in Puerto Varas from September 8 to 10. The event serves as a gathering point for Chile's national biotechnology ecosystem, aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research, entrepreneurship, and industrial needs.
The initiative focuses on connecting talent training, investment, and industry to foster development within the Los Lagos Region. By bringing together public and private actors, scientists, and academics, the event seeks to create concrete opportunities for the application and investment of new biotechnological solutions.
Tomás Gárate Silva, the mayor of Puerto Varas, described the event as a participatory space that democratizes innovation by involving students, entrepreneurs, and local communities. Eduardo Wallach, president of Patagonia Biotech Hub, noted that the event acts as a catalyst for a biotechnological revolution in the Patagonia region, connecting local environments with global talent.
