Puglia allocates 7.6 million euros to Alta Murgia as governor warns of healthcare funding gaps
The Puglia Region has announced a regional strategy for the Alta Murgia area, allocating over 7.6 million euros to the municipalities of Spinazzola, Poggiorsini, and Minervino Murge. The funding aims to redevelop public spaces, enhance cultural heritage, and improve tourism services. Local commentary suggests that while tourism is a priority, additional focus is needed on mobility, healthcare services, and supporting local businesses to ensure social and economic recovery.
Separately, Puglia Governor Antonio Decaro has expressed concern regarding healthcare funding from the national government. Responding to reports of a potential 400 million euro increase for the region's healthcare sector, Decaro stated that such funds would be insufficient due to exponentially rising costs. He noted that the final distribution of resources remains subject to the upcoming Conference of Regions.
