The regional government of Puglia approved a budget amendment of €11,409,241.09, added to an existing €2,107,285.95, bringing total funding for seismic safety projects to €13,516,527.04. The money will be used to upgrade four strategic public buildings: the Sports Sciences Pole of the University of Foggia (‑€6.305 million for demolition and reconstruction), the Angelo Marchiselli sports hall in Barletta (‑€2.861 million for rebuilding sections A and B), the IV Novembre school in Altamura (‑€3.5 million for seismic reinforcement, façade restoration and fire‑safety upgrades) and a Carabinieri barracks. Regional Infrastructure and Mobility assessor Raffaele Piemontese said the aim is to “recover resources, accelerate the works and turn ready projects into useful works for citizens.” The initiative re‑allocates European Regional Development Fund resources to speed up the projects and improve safety in the earthquake‑prone region.
