Puma captured on camera in Mexico's Samalayuca dunes
A wildlife monitoring brigade has captured footage of a puma (Puma concolor) in the Médanos de Samalayuca Flora and Fauna Protection Area in Chihuahua, Mexico. The recording, obtained via a strategically placed camera trap, shows the feline approaching a water source in the desert dunes.
The monitoring was conducted by a specialized brigade operating under the Program for the Protection and Restoration of Ecosystems and Priority Species (Prorest), a federal initiative managed by the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (Conanp). Officials noted that the sighting is a result of field expertise and commitment to conservation, highlighting the puma as a fundamental and emblematic species within the local ecosystem.
