Mexican Football Federation investigates Tepatitlán FC for match-fixing
The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) has launched an investigation into players from Tepatitlán FC of the Liga de Expansión for potential involvement in match-fixing and illegal betting. The Disciplinary Commission has suspended the implicated players while reviewing evidence in accordance with the organization’s Code of Ethics and competition integrity regulations.
In a separate incident within the same league, Tepatitlán player Julio Cruz was sent off during a match against Cancún FC after physically shoving referee Lizzet Amairany García Olvera. The confrontation occurred following a yellow card, leading to Cruz’s dismissal and potential long-term sanctions for violent conduct.
Additionally, Pumas UNAM successfully appealed a controversial red card issued to defender Nathan Silva during a match against Santos Laguna. The FMF Disciplinary Commission overturned the sanction, allowing Silva to be eligible for Pumas’ upcoming fixture against Tigres.
