Tepatitlán FC club instability and investigations
Overview
Tepatitlán FC experienced a period of significant decline following a complete roster overhaul after a change in ownership. After previously winning the Clausura 2026 title, the club was mathematically eliminated from the Apertura 2026 Liga Expansión MX playoffs following a 4-1 defeat against Tapatío, leaving the team at the bottom of the standings.
Following this decline, the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) launched an investigation into Tepatitlán FC players regarding potential involvement in match-fixing and illegal betting.
