Pune Police arrest influencer and MNS worker in separate cases

Pune City Police have conducted several arrests following separate incidents involving social media content and political activism.

Influencer Santosh Pandit was arrested by the Kothrud Police Station for allegedly circulating defamatory and objectionable videos on YouTube targeting Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil and a Pune Municipal Corporation corporator. The case was registered following a complaint from a local resident under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act.

In a separate matter, police arrested MNS worker Ashish Sable in connection with the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph from the Government Polytechnic College in Pune. The incident occurred during a visit by Amit Thackeray, head of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena, who objected to the photograph being displayed alongside icons Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. An FIR was filed against Thackeray and approximately 20 to 25 other workers for charges including unlawful assembly, criminal trespass, and obstructing a public servant.
