MNS activism and photograph removal in Pune

Overview

In Pune, police have arrested MNS activist Ashish Sable following the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph from the Government Polytechnic College in Ganeshkhind. The incident occurred during a visit by Amit Thackeray, head of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena, who objected to the Prime Minister’s portrait being displayed on the same level as historical figures Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

An FIR has been filed against Amit Thackeray and approximately 20 to 25 other activists. Charges include unlawful assembly, criminal trespass, obstructing a public servant, and criminal intimidation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements to identify all participants.
