Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expands anti‑gangster and drug crackdown
Punjab Police, working with the Anti‑Gangster Task Force, carried out 586 raids across the state under the "Gangstran Te Vaar" operation, arresting 350 individuals and seizing four weapons. The raids targeted locations linked to organised crime and were presented as part of a sustained effort to dismantle gangster networks and improve public safety.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann marked the 500‑day milestone of the state's "Yudh Nashean Virudh" (war against drugs) campaign, stating that 70,000 drug smugglers have been arrested and that 1.25 million volunteers from 13,000 villages have formed the backbone of the effort. Mann criticised previous governments for fostering the drug problem and pledged to continue the campaign until Punjab becomes completely drug‑free.
