Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann rolls out women cash aid and education reforms

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced that on August 1 the state will transfer direct cash payments of ₹3,000 and ₹4,500 to the bank accounts of nearly 37 lakh women, a welfare move aimed at strengthening their economic well‑being.

Mann also highlighted that Punjab has become the top performer in primary and middle‑school education in India, according to a NITI Aayog report. He credited investments in modernising school infrastructure, smart classrooms, teacher training and a new Rs 5 crore school block funded by the Vardhman Textiles Group for the improvement, which placed the state ahead of Kerala, Maharashtra and Delhi.

Both initiatives are presented as part of the state government's broader push to reduce poverty and empower citizens through direct financial support and quality education.
