Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann launches 10 lakh new ration cards
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced a transparent, technology‑driven drive to issue 10 lakh new ration cards. Seven lakh cards will be allotted to newly eligible families, while three lakh cards will cover e‑Shram and migrant workers under the National Food Security Act.
Each new beneficiary will receive 5 kg of wheat and a “Meri Rasoi” nutrition kit. The scheme operates on the “No Cash, No Farmaish” principle, eliminating cash payments, recommendations and middlemen. Applications open on 22 July and can be submitted online, at Seva Kendras, Common Service Centres or district food offices, with SMS acknowledgements and online status tracking.
The government says the process is fully digital and transparent to ensure that welfare reaches every deserving household without corruption or political influence.
