Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann launches cash aid for 40 Lakh women and Olympic‑standard swimming pool

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the "Chief Minister Mavaan‑Dhiyaan Satskar" scheme, allocating 9,300 crore rupees to provide monthly cash assistance to about 40 million adult women in the state. Each woman over 18 will receive 3,000 rupees, with scheduled‑caste beneficiaries receiving 4,500 rupees, transferred directly to bank accounts and confirmed by SMS.

The same day the CM inaugurated an Olympic‑level swimming pool in Sangrur, built at a cost of 9.50 crore rupees. The 50‑metre, 21‑metre facility holds 2.5 lakh litres of water, includes modern filtration, changing rooms, a gym and a separate mini‑pool for children under seven. Mann said the pool will serve as a nursery for future national and international champions and is part of a larger increase in Punjab’s sports budget to 1,790 crore rupees.
