Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann regularizes 516 forest workers, cites over 68,000 new government jobs
On July 13, 2026, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann handed appointment letters to 516 daily‑wage employees of the Forest Department in Mohali, converting them to permanent staff and ending years of uncertainty. The ceremony also announced the restoration of long‑pending promotions for 237 forest officers.
The regularisation is presented as part of the state’s “Mission Rozgar” initiative. The AAP‑led government says it has created more than 68,000 government posts since taking office in 2022, emphasizing that recruitments are merit‑based, free of political influence or bribery. Mann used the event to urge Punjabi diaspora to return home, highlighting the administration’s focus on transparent hiring, job security and broader employment generation.
