Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann sends 72 teachers to Finland for advanced training

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann of Punjab flagged off a group of 72 government‑school teachers for an advanced pedagogical programme at the University of Turku in Finland. The trip, announced on 16 May 2026, is part of the state’s “Shiksha Kranti” education reform, aimed at exposing teachers to Finland’s student‑centred methods, modern classroom management and technology‑enabled learning.

Mann said the training will help improve teaching standards in Punjab’s public schools, which he claims now outperform private schools and rank ahead of several other Indian states according to recent NITI Aayog data. Participants will study concepts such as critical thinking, assessment reform and collaborative teaching, then share the insights with colleagues across the state to raise overall education quality.
