Punjab Congress leaders pledge to follow high command amid leadership dispute
Punjab Congress campaign committee chair Charanjit Singh Channi said after a meeting with the party’s Delhi leadership that he will abide by the high command’s decision, even as the state party presidency remains with Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. Channi’s remarks came amid internal dissent over the leadership choice, with senior leaders having presented differing views to the central command.
Separately, party insiders accuse AICC secretary Harish Chaudhary of meddling in Punjab’s affairs from his post in Madhya Pradesh. Critics allege he fuels the leadership crisis, interferes with ticket allocation, and has been linked to past irregularities in candidate selection and organisational campaigns, urging the high command to keep him away from Punjab ahead of the 2027 elections.
