Punjab government deposits aid for 3.55 million women under welfare scheme

The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwan Singh Mann, transferred monthly financial assistance to 3.55 million women’s bank accounts under the “Mawan‑Dhiyan Satkar Yojana”. The disbursement brings the total number of beneficiaries to 6.85 million.

During a ceremony in Patankot, Mann said the scheme provides three‑month combined installments of ₹3,000 or ₹4,500 to women across the state, while widows, disabled and elderly pensioners receive a separate ₹1,000‑₹1,500. He noted that in the past seven days another 5 lakh women registered, raising total registrations to 7.35 million, and that a previous transfer in July had reached 33 lakh women.

Mann emphasized that the payments are a promised right for Punjab’s mothers and sisters, urging beneficiaries to use the funds independently for their needs.
