Punjab launches Mission Clean Punjab sanitation drive

The government of Punjab, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has inaugurated a statewide cleanliness initiative called “Mission Clean Punjab.” The program, announced by Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains, requires all civic officials to conduct field inspections each morning between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. across urban zones.

The drive is technology‑driven, employing an AI‑powered mobile app for real‑time progress tracking and daily video‑call monitoring by senior officials, including the chief minister. Supervisory officers will submit daily reports, and surprise checks will be carried out without prior notice. The aim is to enhance sanitation standards, ensure accountability, and improve the quality of life in cities and towns throughout Punjab.
