Punjab police bust weapons and drug network; LPU security incident sparks political row

Amritsar Rural Police have dismantled an illegal weapons and narcotics supply network, resulting in the arrest of three individuals. During the operation, authorities recovered 10 kg of heroin, two AK rifles, four magazines, and 10 live cartridges. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects were linked to smugglers based abroad who were supplying illicit goods into the state.

Separately, political tensions have escalated in Punjab following an incident at Lovely Professional University (LPU). Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal criticized the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alleging a conspiracy involving outsiders carrying walkie-talkies and weapons on the campus. Badal accused the administration of failing to ensure student safety and using government machinery for political gain.
