Punjab Police conduct hundreds of raids in ongoing gangster crackdown
The Punjab Police and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) have continued their statewide ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign to dismantle criminal networks. In recent coordinated operations, police conducted hundreds of raids across various districts to target gangster associates and proclaimed offenders.
During the latest phase of the crackdown, authorities conducted between 592 and 617 raids, resulting in the arrest of several hundred individuals. These operations led to the recovery of multiple weapons. Since the campaign's launch on January 20, 2026, the total number of arrests related to gangster activities has surpassed 75,000.
In addition to the anti-gangster efforts, the police are maintaining a separate anti-drug campaign titled ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’. This ongoing initiative has resulted in the arrest of thousands of alleged smugglers and the seizure of various narcotics, including heroin and opium. Authorities have established an anonymous helpline to encourage public cooperation in reporting criminal activity.
