Punjab University to launch joint AI lab with Türkiye
Punjab University is set to inaugurate a Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Laboratory on October 7 at its Faculty of Computing and Information Technology. The facility is a collaborative project between Punjab University, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), and Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The laboratory will be equipped with modern computing and server infrastructure to support substantive research, providing a platform for faculty, researchers, and students from both Pakistan and Türkiye to conduct joint experiments and academic projects. A high-level Turkish delegation, including TIKA Vice President Ali Ercan, is expected to attend the inauguration.
In addition to the laboratory, Punjab University has signed an academic cooperation agreement with Türkiye’s Yıldız Technical University. This five-year partnership focuses on human-centered AI research and education, aiming to produce over 10 joint research papers, support at least five jointly funded external research projects, and facilitate more than 20 MPhil and PhD research papers through student and faculty exchanges.
