Punta Arenas municipality allocates $17 million to 22 NGOs

The Municipality of Punta Arenas distributed more than $17 million in subsidies to 22 social organisations during ceremonies on July 29 and 30. Funds will support projects in sports, culture, community services, senior activities, volunteer work, inclusion, recycling and general welfare.

Recipients included the Amadown association for people with Down syndrome, the local Red Cross branch, the Ostomizados de la Patagonia group, a carers' association for disabilities, the Fundación Animal Barak and various sports clubs, senior clubs, neighbourhood councils and cultural groups. Mayor Claudio Radonich said the grants were unanimously approved by the municipal council and delivered directly and transparently to the organisations. Amadown will use its share to improve access to its 25‑year‑old headquarters.

The subsidies aim to benefit hundreds of residents across several neighbourhoods of the city.
