Punto Fijo driver detained for fatal hit-and-run

A 21-year-old driver has been ordered into pretrial detention in Punto Fijo, Falcón state, following a fatal traffic accident. The individual is accused of intentional homicide under the doctrine of 'dolo eventual' after a vehicle struck and killed a motorcyclist on the Alí Primera highway.

Witnesses and video evidence suggest the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser was traveling at high speeds and potentially under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. The victim, a delivery worker, was an only child and leaves behind two children.

The suspect will be held at the Coro Penitentiary Community for 45 days while investigators gather further criminalistic evidence.
