Fatal traffic accident and homicide charges in Punto Fijo

On September 6, 26-year-old delivery driver Enyerbert Daniel Sibada Chirino was killed after being struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser near the Alí Primera Intercomunal in the Las Margaritas sector. The driver, 21-year-old Ángel Emilio Martínez, was allegedly seen in social media videos performing reckless maneuvers and street racing. In response to the fatality, colleagues of the victim organized a protest at the Curva de Sabino to demand justice.

By September 8, Martínez was ordered into pretrial detention at the Coro Penitentiary Community for 45 days. He faces accusations of intentional homicide under the doctrine of ‘dolo eventual’. Witnesses and video evidence suggest the driver was traveling at high speeds and may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. The victim, an only child, leaves behind two children.
