Punto Legal director sentenced to over 1,200 years for fraud

Edgar Francisco Franco, director of the Punto Legal firm, has been sentenced to more than 1,200 years in prison for a massive real estate fraud in León, Guanajuato. The sentencing follows two separate legal processes: an initial 1,018-year sentence for defrauding 107 families, followed by an additional 238-year sentence after the prosecution incorporated 28 more families into the case.

The fraud involved offering false home auctions through social media. While the sentence marks the largest prison term in the history of Guanajuato, victims have yet to recover their lost assets. Prosecutors estimate that Franco owes the affected families more than 40 million pesos. Local Prosecutor Gerardo Vázquez Alatriste stated that authorities are exploring legal alternatives to ensure the restitution of the victims' patrimony.
