Indiana and Purdue secure key Big Ten football victories
In Big Ten football action, No. 6 Indiana extended its winning streak to 21 games with a 47-15 victory over Rutgers. Quarterback Josh Hoover threw for four touchdowns, while Turbo Richard rushed for 204 yards. The Hoosiers' dominant performance included 593 total yards, marking a significant milestone as the first Big Ten team since 1995 to record two 100-yard rushers and two 100-yard receivers in a single game. Indiana now prepares for a marquee matchup against 5-0 Nebraska.
Separately, Purdue ended a long conference drought by defeating Illinois 24-17 in Champaign. The Boilermakers' victory, which included reclaiming the Canon Trophy, was fueled by a season-best defensive performance and three field goals from freshman kicker Jacobo Echeverria Lozano. This win marked Purdue's first Big Ten victory since November 2023 and their first road win in the conference since 2022.
