Indian political leaders clash over constitutional institutions and regional issues
Indian political leaders from the ruling BJP and opposition parties are engaged in intense verbal confrontations regarding constitutional institutions and regional governance.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister J. P. Nadda have accused the Congress and the INDIA bloc of attempting to undermine democratic values and constitutional bodies. Specifically, Adityanath defended the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, dismissing opposition objections as attempts to spread confusion for political gain. Nadda further alleged that the opposition is spreading anarchy due to a lack of clear policy and vision.
In Delhi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the BJP, citing an incident where a Delhi minister allegedly slapped a citizen. Gandhi characterized such actions as a sign of political arrogance resulting from ‘vote theft.’
In Punjab, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has joined BJP-led anti-drug campaigns, targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Dhami accused the AAP of failing to address the drug menace and claimed the party has mismanaged the state’s welfare. Meanwhile, BJP officials have alleged that AAP is conspiring to disrupt upcoming political rallies in the region.
