Putin denies rumors of new Russian military mobilization

Russian President Vladimir Putin has rejected rumors regarding a new wave of military mobilization for the conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, Putin stated that there is currently no scenario necessitating such a move.

Putin dismissed reports of imminent recruitment as an “information attack” and a campaign of disinformation designed to influence upcoming elections for the State Duma. He maintained that the Russian military would not face difficulties in recruiting new personnel through existing means.

This denial follows previous warnings from Ukrainian intelligence and analysts suggesting Russia might be preparing for large-scale mobilization. Observers note that while a partial mobilization of 300,000 reservists occurred in September 2022, the Kremlin has since implemented digital recruitment registries and legal changes that some experts interpret as preparations for future calls to service.
